Performance Art and Theatre
Performance art has a historical hold on San Francisco- the city consistently attracts top touring acts to its vibrant theatre scene. There is also a San Francisco festival or event for every season, culture and cause imaginable, including Chinese New Year, Oktoberfest and Carnival.
Alcatraz
Alcatraz Island offers a glimpse into a unique piece of history (and a terrific view of San Francisco Bay). There are tours of the prison every day offering a unique insight into the cells and conditions endured by some of America’s most dangerous criminals. Also make sure to drop by Fisherman's Wharf along the way to sample the world's finest crab restaurants.
Golden Gate Bridge
This beautiful bridge connects San Francisco to Marin County, standing out even through the thickets fog.  The bridge is considered to be one of the wonders of the modern world-offering gorgeous views of this beautiful city. A walk or, at least, a drive across the bridge is highly recommended (walking takes around half an hour) as this is definitely one of San Francisco’ iconic features.
Presidio
This was formerly one of the oldest military installations in the USA but now holds a forest, a Civil War brick fortress and a museum in what is bound to become a self-reliant national park of it’s own accord. Presidio lies close to the Golden Gate Bride and is well worth the visit.
Pier 39
This is one of the city’s biggest attractions with shopping centres, speciality shops, historic ships, museums and aquariums all stretched out along this high-class beach street. This is the ideal spot in San Fran for a good ramble that lasts the whole daylong!
