Shopping Mexico has everything from fashionable boutiques to bustling markets selling traditional crafts.Taxco is famous for its fine jewellery and silverware, Oaxaca for its gold and chocolate, Guadalajara for woodwork but all is on sale in Mexico City. The markets best buys include ceramics and pottery, particularly black clay dishes from the Oaxaca region. Woven wool blankets, coloured wool and silk scarves and richly embroidered hats. Nightlife In family resorts, planned entertainment begins early at dinnertime with live mariachi music, Spanish flamenco dancers, gypsy violinists and Aztec re-enactments. Nightclubs in Mexico often open around midnight and close at daylight. Mexico City attracts international rock and pop acts, Latin music stars and the world's best ballet and orchestra companies. Zona Rosa in the city centre is home to chic, expensive bars and restaurants. Acapulco is known as the city that never sleeps with bars and discos lining the streets while Cancun is known for all-night beach parties. Food Corn,beans,potatoes, fish and chicken are popular in Mexico but there is something to suit all tastes. There is plenty of choice with US and Mexican fast-food chains also in abundance. Volcanoes The volcanic peaks of Popocat & ampeacutepetl and Nevado de Toluca are sometimes snow-capped but make for excellent climbs. Gondolas Brightly painted gondolas, often accompanied by mariachi singers can be hired to cruise the beautiful canals and floating gardens of Xochimilco.
